Recipient of the 2022 Edward R. Roybal Award For Outstanding Public Service

Presented annually, the Edward R. Roybal Award for Outstanding Public Service was established to honor individuals who have distinguished themselves as devoted public servants to the nation, and pays tribute to the organization’s founder and President Emeritus, the late Congressman Edward R. Roybal.

The NALEO Edward R. Roybal Legacy Celebration features the presentation of the Edward R. Roybal Award for Outstanding Public Service that was established by NALEO in tribute to the organization’s founder on NALEO’s 20th Anniversary in 1996.  Each year, the celebration has paid homage to our founder’s legacy and is rooted in the opportunity to honor an individual who exemplifies the spirit of the Edward R. Roybal Award and ensures that a future generation is inspired by our community’s legacy and its exemplary leaders.

About the recipient

Senator Bob Menendez is a United States Senator (D-NJ), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for the 117th Congress, and serves on the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. Prior to this, Senator Menendez also served as Chairman of the Banking Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation, and Community Development and was a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee. Senator Menendez is the son of Cuban immigrants and grew up in Union City, NJ — the city where he began his political career serving as mayor. Senator Menendez holds a B.A. from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City and a law degree from Rutgers University. Learn more about Senator Menendez here.
