The NALEO Edward R. Roybal Legacy Celebration features the presentation of the Edward R. Roybal Award for Outstanding Public Service that was established by NALEO in tribute to the organization’s founder on NALEO’s 20th Anniversary in 1996.  Each year, the celebration has paid homage to our founder’s legacy and is rooted in the opportunity to honor an individual who exemplifies the spirit of the Edward R. Roybal Award and ensures that a future generation is inspired by our community’s legacy and its exemplary leaders.

Senator Bob Menendez is a United States Senator (D-NJ), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for the 117^th Congress, and serves on the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. Prior to this, Senator Menendez also served as Chairman of the Banking Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation, and Community Development and was a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee. Senator Menendez is the son of Cuban immigrants and grew up in Union City, NJ — the city where he began his political career serving as mayor.
