Strategies for Effective Governance:
Building Trust and Relationships
According to recent research, the level of mistrust between Americans and government, as well as other vital institutions, is at an all-time low. As our country faces a hyper-partisan and uncivil environment in its political system, communities and constituents are in need of leaders who are capable of effectively addressing critical public policy issues that can improve their quality of life and opportunities. In today’s climate, newly elected officials are poised to implement strategies to bring back civility to political and public spaces. This session will examine the erosion of the public’s trust, trends in the public’s consumption of information, and strategies for data-informed decision making that can support building trust for the sake of effective governance and sound public policy making.
